The first step

There are plenty of reasons which can lead you to start, or start again, a therapy at some point in your life.

Taking the first step to start a therapy can be scary, go against a discourse we’ have heard on “shrinks” or be at odds with our inner speech (“I’m not doing that bad”, “it’ll get better in a few days/weeks/months”, “I’m used to it”, “I’ve known worse”).

Going to therapy is first and foremost an act of care towards yourself, by which you chose to be guided to engage in a process of change.

Why would you go to therapy ?

  • You’re going through a stage of your life which is more difficult or complexe to live: break-up, bereavement, depression, change in your living environment, burn out, professional career, loss of meaning, feeling of being at odds…
  • You want to change recurring patterns which block you, restrict you or cause a problem:
    • in your relationships with family, friends, partners,
    • in your professional life,
    • in artistic creation.
  • You’re looking to better feel and live your emotions.
  • You’ve got at heart to experience more fluidity in the way you relate to others, in your personal, social and professional life.
  • You wish to learn how to communicate and assert yourself in a healthy way.
  • You’re having existential or identity questions.
  • You’re looking to better know yourself to blossom in life.

What is Gestalt Therapy?

Gestalt Therapy is a therapy which allows to go see what happens when we go to contact with the environment. This includes the interpersonal, social and political fields.

Gestalt Therapy allows to welcome all the diversity and the complexity of our experiences and our situations. It aims at putting in motion what’s frozen and immobilized, to instil novelty in repeated patterns.

Gestalt Therapy is a therapy full of life. As a practitioner, I get involved during the session to look into how you live what’s happening to you but also what’s happening between us, here and now during the session.

You can learn more about the theory fundamentals and practices of Gestalt Therapy on the website of the European Association for Gestalt-Therapy.

I also work with the insights of adult attachment theory for adults.

During the first session

During the first session, we’ll meet each other and you’ll be able to share what brings you to start, or start again, a therapy. I will also explain to you the therapy work settings.

The typical frequency for sessions is once a week in order to support therapeutic work in a meaningful way.

Gestalt-Therapy sessions are not reimbursed by the French Social Security, but you may ask your insurance company (mutuelle) if they cover a share of the costs.
